Steve Mosby: Still Bleeding

I've been reading Steve Mosby's: Still Bleeding. if you want to read a good book.. don't read this one. the story was very confusing and almost impossible to follow. to many sidestories that lead to nothing, to many differend names to remember... so many I was happy some people died so I could stop remembering them. but the biggest clue that this book wasn't any good, was the fact that I had to keep looking at the back what the name of the main character was. (It's Alex Conner... I think) I also haven't figured out why there was an axe on the cover cause there wasn't any swinging about the place... but that's just my own little mystery. let's hope his other books are better, but this book kinda scared me away. maybe if I'll forget I will buy another book from him again... maybe.

the bookfair

taaaadaaaaa! the books! 1 detective, 1 book filled with dog pic's and funny quotes and 3 scary ones.. and yes you saw it too right? a FRANCK THILLIEZ!! he's one of the view people that can still make me a bit nervous as I'm reading his books. Stephen King kinda lost that factor, I still love reading his books but with all of them there's a simple rule: no mercy, no survivers!
got 2 bead sorters so I can pick them up better and sort them out faster.
bought an UKagenda (so all the Brit holiday dat and things in it) and yes I can see the pink too...
free English MJ book I could pick (and it will be sold, cause I love the music.. that's it)
 this is what mum bought:
2 puzzles, 3 bookcovers and a big print book.

sunday

well after walking only 4,7 km (2,9 miles) I bought 13 books: 2 I already had but could be swapped for better looking ones, 6 'little books' I collect and further all thrillers. cause well.. there just the most fun to read!
now I'm talking about books anyway I'll share something else too: my fav childhood book was De Kleine Kapitein (The Little Captain) from Paul Biegel. cause mum volenteered at the school library (6 cabinets of books in the hallway) she got the 3 books from there. but now I got the new bookcases I thought they deserved a new version. so I looked arround and found all 3 books in 1 book! I'm so happy with it.. the Captain will always be with me ;)
the same page..
up: the old book
down: the new one

mr King im so sorry..

but I will be selling this book. I read it and well.. yea.. thats all I'm gonna say. well maybe a little bit more: in this book there 2 stories, I normaly love his short stories but this was a double no no.
first story: Morality (Eenmalige zonde) sounds great doesn't it? an old reverend asks his nurse to sin in his name for money. which just made me go crazy! what would he let her do?? well it turned out something that wasn't even that horrible.. (or maybe because I was in childcare I wanted to do this so badly sometimes I was just jealous) and the way that changed her life that much.. common get over it!!
second story: Blockade Billy this has more of a King vibe to it! there's something not right and my eyes are glues to the pages trying to figure it out. it's a great story with a wonderfull ending... only one problem. I'm not much of a baseball fan.. not at all really I remember the basics from school years ago but that's about it. and because I simply don't know that much about it (rules, teams, anything) the beginning was confusing and a little boring. the ending was great but it's just isnt worth fighting my way to the first bit again.. baseball fan's who know the teams will love it, you can see mr King loved writing it. but for me it's bye bye book! it's been fun reading you.

2 books!

saturday I finally finished Cujo...

The Cambers' once-friendly St. Bernard turns into a killer after being bitten by a rabid bat. Donna Trenton's husband is in New York trying to contain a disastrous ad campaign. Feeling abandoned by her workaholic husband, who is frequently out of town, Donna Trenton embarks on an affair with a local handyman. Left to fend for herself, she takes her ailing Pinto to Joe Cambers' garage for repairs only to be trapped with her son Tad in the sweltering car by the monstrous dog.

well not really I skipped almost the whole book. the dog part was just a bit it went on and on about the relation ship between Donna and.... her husband (yea I already lost his name) which is just to boring for me. im sorry but I wanna see action in books! well I saw the dvd first an the beginning of the DVD was also a bit boring... so yea I could have known.. Cujo: the first Stephen King book I disn't like (and hopefully the last)
now I've started with an very exiting new book!
Franck Thilliez: the color of darkness (La couleur des ténèbres) short story only 104 pages.

it begins with two men stuck in a cave below a gletcher. One can move only a small distance cause he has a chain on his leg, the other wears a steal mask. And there is a note with instructions. They have no idea how they ended up there. That slightly becomes clear in the story. In an excellent way.

yea..

I stole this review somewhere cause I couln't really find an English one.. and im to lazy to make my own.

books & quotes

don't have the book:
Harriet Beecher Stowe: Uncle Tom's Cabin:
'I don't sell dead niggers. You are welcome to bury him where and when you like.'

owned books:
Stephen King: Night Shift (short stories) Children of the Corn
'Still…let’s talk about fear. We won’t raise our voices and we won’t scream; we’ll talk rationally, you and I. We’ll talk about the way the good fabric of things sometimes has a way of unraveling with shocking suddenness.'

Stephen King – Silver Bullet
Written in the center of a sheet torn from a grade-schooler's lined notepad, is this sentence: Why don't you kill yourself?

Stephen King – The Cell
‘What Darwin was too polite to say, my friends, is that we came to rule the Earth not because we were the smartest, or even the meanest, but because we have always been the craziest, most murderous motherfuckers in the jungle.’

Stephen King - The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
The world has teeth and it can bite you with them any time it wants.

Stephen King – The Mist (1985)

will be updated soon

Dutch book written in 1900

the book i'm reading now: schoolidyllen by Top Naeff (she's a she). it's a Dutch book from the year 1900! then it was only for kids (1 of the girls get's realy sick and dies... ah, the good old days) it's about 5 girl's: Jet: she's a sweet girl who's parents have died and her uncle takes care of her cause she got money. Jeanne: a girl who only cares about her looks and cries for everything. Noes & Lien: 2 sisters who have a lower status then the other girls, Noes is okay with that but Lien tries to do anything to make sure others think there rich. Maud: a Dutch/American girl who stands up for what she believes in, even if that get's her in lot's of problems.
when I started to read I was surprised, it was my mums old version of the book and it's written like.. someone who would live many years ago. but it didn't take a lot of getting used too. it's an real easy read. it's meant as a kid's book, well.. was back then. now it would be... all ages I guess. at some point it got a little boring forabout 2/3 pages but I passed that and now im back on track. im almost done with it and even tho I didn't cry.. its a very funny, dramatic book with some good lesson's in it and 5 girls that will steal your heart.

Stephen King's short stories

Jerusalem's Lot: a great story. you just read the letters from Charles Boone, which makes reading it feel like your sneaking arround. Charles just moved in his late cousin's house with his butler. the house is not what it seems to be. an empty town just a view miles away, worms in the wall and something in the basement. I dont wanna tell you to much or the myster is gone, I will tell you the last page hit me like a cold shower. don't mix this short story up with Salems Lot.. its a follow up book from this story and  not even that much alike.

Graveyard Shift: A young drifter named Hall has been working at a decrepit textile mill in a small town in Maine when his boss, a cruel taskmaster, recruits him and others to assist with a massive cleaning effort. The basement of the old mill has been abandoned for decades, and over the years, a monumental infestation of rats has taken hold. This rat empire, cut off from the rest of nature, has allowed the animals to evolve into a strange and varied combination of creatures. this short story is creepy.. creepy because even if nothing happens you feel that somethings wrong. lovely story that grabs you and makes you read it till the end.
